Lesson 4: Promoting your business
In this lesson, you’ll learn how to get your business discovered and attract more customers on Uber Eats.
Let’s start with what’s included. From running ads to creating promotions, we’ll show you how to stand out on Uber Eats.
Part 1: Ads
When people open the Uber Eats app, ads are some of the first businesses they see. This means you’ll get more visibility with people all over your city.
Perks of ads
Boost visibility by showing up in more places across the app
Target your audience to only reach specific people
Optimize your ad to automatically update based on performance
More eyes on you
Get seen more often in more places.
Start using ads in 6 steps
Step 1: Log in
Log in to your Manager portal, then click on Sponsored listings in the Marketing tab.
Step 2: Select your audience
Choose who you want to see your ad: everyone or new customers only.
Step 3: Assign a weekly budget
Determine the amount of money you want to spend each week, keeping in mind that you’ll be charged for every click on your ad. You can also choose to pause this at any time.
Step 4: Choose your bid
Designate how much you want to pay for each click. A custom bid lets you decide the amount, while an automatic bid will adjust over time to be competitive without overspending.
Step 5: Launch your ad
Targeted customers within your delivery radius will start seeing your ad in the Uber Eats feed.
Step 6: Optimize as you go
See how your ad is performing, then adjust bids and budgets as you learn what’s working.
Part 2: Promotions
Give more people a reason to order from you. Promotions can help whether you want to find new customers, highlight a new item, or increase orders during a slow time.
Perks of promotions
Customize your promotion to meet your specific goals
Target customers so you only reach certain people
Get discovered with eye-catching badges and special placement
Find your next best customer
Give people even more of a reason to order from you.
Starter ideas for your next promotion
Incentivize during a slow time
Offer a $0 Delivery Fee on slower nights of the week.
Reach new customers only
Reach people who’ve never ordered from you by targeting only new customers.
Encourage bigger orders
Reward customers for ordering more by giving a discount when they spend a certain amount.
Start using promotions in 5 steps
Step 1: Log in
Log in to your Manager portal, then click on the Marketing tab.
Step 2: Choose your promotion
You’ll want to choose your promotion type based on your business goals. For example, offer dollars off to encourage larger orders, or “Buy one, get one free” to drive sales of certain items.
Step 3: Set your time frame and audience
Choose whether to show up exclusively for new customers or reach all users in your area. Then set a schedule and input your budget.
Step 4: Go live
Customers will see a green ribbon on your storefront showing your promotion.
Step 5: Track, test, and learn
You can run up to 5 promotions at a time to see which drives the best results. When your promotions end, you’ll get a full report to see how they performed.
*Based on pilots in the US and Costa Rica from September 2019 to February 2020 that included over 1,000 restaurants. Actual results may vary.
