Petco drives new customer acquisition with Uber Eats

United States | June 2026

For more than 60 years, Petco has been proud to be ‘where the pets go’ to find everything they need to live their best lives—from their favorite meals and toys to trusted supplies and expert support from people who get it because they live it. Today, that pet-forward approach is felt across more than 1,500 Petco stores across the US, Mexico and Chile. But even as the business has evolved, one thing has stayed the same: a deep commitment to the bond between pets and the people who love them.

That culture is part of what makes Petco stand out and part of what drew Camille Netter, Manager of Omnichannel Marketplaces, and Alyssa Eslick, Marketplaces Program Manager, to their roles at the company. “Petco has a pet-forward culture,” says Netter. “That shapes how we think about every customer experience, across every channel.”

For Eslick, that passion is personal as well as professional. “I bought my first pet fish at Petco back when I was 10,” she says. “It’s where so many pet parents go for those first moments, whether that’s bringing home a fish or learning how to care for a pet the right way. That sense of stewardship is a big part of what makes the brand special.”

Meeting customers where they are

Like many brick-and-mortar retailers, Petco has seen online shopping become a bigger part of the customer journey. “Marketplaces have become an important part of how we reach customers in new ways,” says Netter. “For us, it’s about creating a stronger omnichannel experience and making sure Petco shows up wherever customers want to shop.”

Rather than viewing same-day delivery as a separate business, Petco sees it as an opportunity to offer a trusted store experience, one that helps the brand meet demand, improve convenience, and connect with new pet parents.

“Marketplace channels like Uber Eats are valuable because they put Petco in front of new customers,” says Netter. “It gives us another way to introduce the brand and create incremental growth.”

That strategy has translated into real results. In 2025, Petco reached new customers through Uber Eats. Petco’s focus on meeting pet parents where they are matters, but it’s only part of the story.

Turning convenience into customer loyalty

In pet care, convenience can have an immediate impact. Whether a customer needs dog food, cat litter, treats, or last-minute supplies for a new pet, speed matters. With delivery available in as little as 25 minutes, Uber Eats helps Petco serve those moments with the immediacy customers increasingly expect. “When pet parents need something quickly, being able to get it fast creates a better experience and helps us serve them in a more relevant way,” says Netter.

That speed has also helped Petco strengthen customer loyalty over time. “One of the strongest signals for us has been repeat behavior,” says Eslick. “Uber Eats has shown that it can be a sticky platform for Petco, which tells us we’re not just acquiring customers, we’re building ongoing engagement.” That matters because the value of a new customer is much greater when that first order becomes a lasting relationship.

“Repeat purchasing behavior on Uber Eats gives us confidence that we’re creating lasting value.”

Bringing the Petco experience to the marketplace

Petco’s strategy on Uber Eats goes beyond simply listing store inventory. The team works hard to make sure the Uber Eats experience still feels recognizably Petco.

“We don’t think about Uber Eats as just putting products online,” says Eslick. “We try to bring the Petco experience to life by highlighting seasonal moments, discovery, and the kinds of engaging assortments customers would naturally encounter in our stores.”

That includes digital collections and seasonal offers that help Petco stand out and attract new customers on Uber Eats. The strategy is especially effective in pet retail, where purchases are often driven by routine needs and emotional moments. A customer may come to the app for essentials like food, then discover something timely or delightful, like a holiday-themed cat toy or a puffy jacket for their dog during a cold snap.

Using ads and offers to accelerate growth

Petco has also invested in Uber Eats ads and offers to increase visibility, conversion and drive more value from customer demand. The results have been significant. In 2025, Petco saw the average Uber Eats order size increase by 64% during seasonal campaign periods. For Eslick, the best part is the step change in growth from each successful campaign: “We’ve seen Uber Eats ads and offers increase visibility and conversion during the campaign, but what’s been especially exciting is that the lift doesn’t stop when the promotion ends.” Collectively, Uber Eats ads and offers drove an increase in sales on the platform.

Learning from data to improve the customer experience

Uber Eats data, says Eslick, “helps us make better decisions around assortment, promotions, and customer experience. It furthers our understanding of how customers are interacting with Petco across touch points and how we can keep improving.” She sees particular potential in better tailoring the shopping experience over time: “The insights become just as valuable as the end result. The more we understand what customers are shopping for and how they behave, the more relevant we can make the experience.”

A growth partner, not just a marketplace

Uber Eats has become an increasingly relevant part of Petco’s customer journey. Just as important, Petco says, the Uber team proactively partners with the pet retailer to think beyond day-to-day merchandising. “What stands out about the relationship is how collaborative it is,” says Eslick. “Uber doesn’t just help execute; they come to the table with ideas, whether that’s new advertising opportunities, new ways to grow, or different programs to explore.” That level of support helps Petco stay focused on its objectives. “We have high expectations,” Eslick adds. “And it’s valuable to have a partner who is just as invested in helping us get to where we want to go.”

That shared commitment, says Netter, makes the work especially meaningful. “For us,” she says, “growth matters most when it helps us serve more pet parents in ways that are convenient, relevant, and true to the Petco brand.”
