Best Buy delivers incremental online sales with Uber Eats

Best Buy is the world’s largest specialty consumer electronics retailer. With more than 1,000 stores and 85,000 employees in North America, Best Buy combines tech expertise and human touch to meet customers’ everyday needs, in-store and online. To support its fast-evolving omnichannel strategy, Best Buy launched on the Uber Eats app in September 2025. Best Buy is working with delivery platforms like Uber Eats to supplement its e-commerce channels and help accelerate growth, reach new customers, and meet rising consumer expectations for retail items delivered on demand.

A new channel, not a replacement

Best Buy’s online shopping experience has long been a key part of its business. As more consumers turn to third-party platforms for everyday purchases like electronics, Best Buy saw an opportunity to expand its digital presence with Uber Eats. “We’re always looking for ways to make it as seamless as possible for our customers to shop where and how they want to,” says Matt Berg, Marketplace Platform Analyst at Best Buy. “Uber Eats does just that, while getting the tech delivered right to their door.”

Best Buy’s gig marketplace team, which focuses on enabling customers to shop across a range of third-party platforms, led the Uber Eats launch. This platform-agnostic strategy is helping Best Buy attract more consumers online, especially young urban consumers who choose to shop online for convenience and delivery speed.

A distributed fulfillment approach leveraging 1,000+ stores

With so many stores across the US and Canada, Best Buy is uniquely positioned to offer on-demand delivery through Uber Eats. Orders are fulfilled by couriers who shop in-store on behalf of the consumer, a model more commonly seen in grocery that is now emerging in retail.

“That’s one of our advantages,” says Berg. “Our store footprint allows us to get customers the items they want in under an hour.” By pairing store-level fulfillment with the Uber courier network, Best Buy is able to leverage its store inventory without pulling store associates away from customers on the sales floor.

Speed matters to shoppers

Consumer demand for fast, flexible retail store delivery continues to rise, especially in categories like electronics and small home goods. Research from Uber and Edelman shows that shoppers increasingly expect same-day delivery, with 75% of consumers saying they expect express delivery as an option when shopping online, which is why Best Buy was encouraged to see that the majority of orders were delivered in under 60 minutes from when the customer placed the order on Uber Eats in Q4 2025.

"Delivery speed is one of the most important factors when it comes to driving customer loyalty. Uber Eats helps us deliver most online orders in under an hour, putting us in a better position to deliver exceptional shopping experiences for our customers."

From kickoff to launch in just months

Best Buy began working with Uber in mid-2025, targeting a pre-holiday launch. Despite the complexity of integrating with Best Buy’s proprietary e-commerce infrastructure, the teams were able to launch Best Buy on Uber Eats within 3 months.

“There are always going to be a few bumps in a project like this,” says Berg, “Uber’s tech team was incredibly responsive and resolved any issues promptly. One of our biggest takeaways was how eager the Uber Eats team was to find solutions and help us hit our September launch goal.”

Strong sales momentum for the holidays

In the fourth quarter of 2025, Best Buy received more than 100,000 orders on Uber Eats, generating over $16 million in sales. Roughly 70% of those orders came from Uber One members, who spend more than the average Uber Eats customer and purchase more frequently on the platform.

“We’re excited about our Uber Eats partnership and what that means for the customer,” says Berg. “Our store rating has consistently remained above 4.8 out of 5 stars, with almost no complaints. That’s a strong reflection of the quality of the couriers on the Uber platform.”

Uber Eats ads and offers boost visibility and conversion

In support of the holiday launch, Best Buy leveraged Uber Eats ads and special offers to increase visibility and boost sales conversion on the platform. The marketing campaign delivered strong results. Black Friday and Cyber Monday were standouts, with strong engagement and sales. Best Buy saw a six times return on ad spending (ROAS) during this period.

Uber Eats data improves decision-making

The Best Buy team uses data from the Uber Eats platform to analyze customer behavior and optimize its assortment, tracking key performance indicators like average basket size, new versus repeat customers, and order trends.

“A big opportunity for us going forward is building loyalty within the platform,” Berg adds. “We’ve already seen Uber Eats shoppers making repeat purchases in Q4 of 2025, and we’re focusing now on how to grow that number in the future.”

Scaling for the future

With early wins and high customer satisfaction, Best Buy is now looking to expand its Uber Eats program. That includes deeper integration with real-time inventory APIs and additional marketing investments to increase online engagement and sales.

“Uber has been a strong addition to our omnichannel strategy,” says Berg. “We’re continuing to explore creative ideas with their team to continue best serving our customers.”
