How Uber Eats and Toast help restaurants better manage delivery orders

March 2026

The ding of a delivery tablet used to be a warning siren for restaurant staff. It meant stopping mid-service to manually transcribe orders from 5 different screens into a single KDS while hungry guests waited and food got cold. The multi-tablet chaos was the industry standard for far too long, draining efficiency and becoming a bottleneck during service.

Thankfully, a new partnership and integration between Uber Eats and Toast is helping to change that. For restaurant pros like Joe Fontana, Founder and Owner of Fry the Coop, this integration makes the delivery-order processing system smoother and easier to manage. “It’s been a blessing,” he says. “Orders come in seamlessly, right to our KDS screens. It’s really a game changer.”

How the integration works

The Toast and Uber Eats integration provides an automated order flow to help ensure that orders are received and fulfilled:

  1. An order is placed on Uber Eats

  2. The order flows into the Toast POS and KDS and/or printers

  3. Staff sees and prepares the order

  4. The order is delivered by a courier in Uber’s network

This removes the need for restaurant workers to manually re-enter orders into their POS, which helps reduce errors and lets restaurant operators spend more time creating delicious meals and serving their guests. Toast CMO Kelly Esten says, “The average restaurant operator got into this business because they love hospitality … They want to be out front with the guests, not behind their computer in a back office.”

It’s all about restaurant success

In addition to helping restaurants save time, Uber Eats gives them access to a dependable delivery network and more potential customers. With robust marketing tools such as ads, sponsored listings, and promotions, the Uber Eats platform helps restaurants attract new customers and build customer loyalty in the process. Fontana says, “We’d been open for 4 years … [This customer] had never heard of us before. She ordered us on Uber Eats, loved it, and a week later brings her entire family in. Now we’ve made her a lifelong fan.”

The Toast integration funnels all of those new online delivery orders seamlessly into a restaurant’s POS, helping restaurants cut down on operational complexity.

Empowering the restaurant community

At the heart of the Toast and Uber Eats partnership is restaurant excellence. The goal is to put food and hospitality—not delivery logistics—at the forefront of each restaurant operator’s mind. “We want to make these in-person businesses that have traditionally been challenging to run and operate a lot easier and a lot more profitable,” says Toast’s CMO. With better technology and less friction, Uber Eats and Toast are showing up for the restaurant community and empowering operators to continue to do what they love—delight and serve their guests.
